Nieszawa is a small town situated seven kilometers south of Ciechocinek where a ferry crosses the Vistula River at its widest. Beautiful riverside cliffs. Water fowls, dogs, hens, a small town center with two small grocery stores, one clothes shop, and a closed mill. They say Chopin stopped here on the way to his summer house in Szafarnia. Since then, to commemorate his visit, a trumpeter has played the first bars of Chopin's F-major op.38 from the town hall tower three times a day.
Marek, the head of the town's Arts Foundation, has large ambitions but few resources. He is Piotr Piotrowski's best friend, but Piotrowski doesn't know this yet. Piotrowski is the kind of man who would never get by without the help of good people. After the death of the local pharmacist, Piotrowski decides to do something with his life. He doesn't want just to get by, but to fulfill his dreams. Nobody wants him to succeed, he thinks. But is this really so?
